Introduced in 1973, publishers Bradford Barton, Truro, Cornwall produced many pictorial books of rail interest, each hardback book was almost square in shape and eventually covered virtually every aspect for the rail enthusiast.

Although railway related titles dominated, other transport interests were added to the series including a few other unrelated subjects.

We are not sure of how many titles were published in total but certainly over one hundred and fifty different titles were produced in this square format, all are very uniform in appearance and size and a very useful reference source, affordable and collectable series for the enthusiast.  Early books had very thick board covers, replaced later with a more conventional hard cover.
Most books had 96 usually gloss printed pages, each with a full page illustration and an explanitory caption, the pictorial jackets were purely funtional and didn't owe a lot to design. 

Some of these books were later republished or reprinted by other publishers - often of a lesser quality.

The books listed below are thoose that were issued in the 'square' format with hard covers with dust wrappers, the later books with card covers are not included
